Nine years at Google. Now in your corner.
I'm Terrance Shepherd. I spent nine years as an engineer at Google, and today I build and run the technology behind my own New Hampshire companies. I know what it's like to sign the checks and live with the results — and now I help other small businesses get that same edge. Remote-first, based in the 603.
My story
Most tech consultants have never run a business — or worked somewhere like Google. I've done both.
For nine years I was a Technical Solutions Engineer at Google, where I helped some of the company's biggest customers keep their technology running — leading the response when critical systems went down, building tools to catch problems before they spread, and training hundreds of new engineers. Before that I scaled systems at fast-growing tech companies around Boston and New Hampshire.
Then I did something a lot of engineers only talk about: I started my own company. I founded and built Photo Booth Picture Company — a busy photo-booth business serving New Hampshire and Greater Boston — and I didn't hire its technology out. I built it: the website that takes bookings, the system that tracks every customer and contract, the galleries where clients get their photos, and the behind-the-scenes automation that ties it together. The same booths have entertained guests at events for Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Bungie, and the Seattle Aquarium.
I've done the same for other businesses — automating an auto-detailing shop so the paperwork and warranties handle themselves, and reviewing the websites and ad accounts of dozens of small businesses across the country to find where they're losing customers or wasting money on Google and Facebook. Every one of those projects started with the same thing you're feeling: a job that took too long, cost too much, or kept slipping.
That's the difference. I've felt the cost of every technology decision I'd recommend to you. When I say "this is worth doing" or "don't waste your money on that," it's coming from someone who's been in your shoes.

15 years in technology
From keeping Google's biggest customers online to running my own business — here's the path.
Founder & Engineer · Photo Booth Picture Company
My own company. I build and run every piece of its technology — the booking website, the customer and contract system, e-signatures, automated reporting, and the AI tools that handle the busywork. Soup to nuts, it's mine.
Technical Solutions Engineer · Google
Spent nine years helping Google's largest, most important customers keep their systems running. I led the response when critical things broke, built tools to catch problems before they spread, ran 250+ engineering interviews, and trained 500+ new engineers. This is where I learned to stay calm and fix hard problems fast.
Application & Systems Engineer · MobileFuse
Rebuilt a core system so it could handle 6 billion requests a month — up from 100,000 — while keeping it online 99.9% of the time. Set up the team's first code-review and automated-testing habits.
Application Developer · Dyn (Manchester, NH)
Built and fixed software for one of New Hampshire's best-known internet companies — finding and solving problems before customers ever noticed them.
Engineer in Charge / Show Director · Tsongas Center, UMass Lowell
Ran the technical side of live events at a 6,000-seat arena. This is where my love of events — and eventually the photo-booth business — began. (UMass Lowell, Class of 2013.)
